Psalm 119

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

Remove from me the way of falsehood,
and favor me with your law.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

The law of your mouth is to me more precious
than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

Your word, O LORD, endures forever;
it is firm as the heavens.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

From every evil way I withhold my feet,
that I may keep your words.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

Through your precepts I gain discernment;
therefore I hate every false way.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

Falsehood I hate and abhor;
your law I love.

R. Your word, O Lord, is a lamp for my feet.

From the Principal

Dear Parents,

We are in the process of renewing our SACS Accreditation for the school and need some help from our parents.

This help comes in the form of taking a survey regarding our program effectiveness. We need at least a 20% response rate from our parents in order to use the information in our report.

The survey will be open until October 15. It only takes a few minutes of your time, costs nothing, and gives us much-needed feedback.

Thank you in advance for helping us acquire the data needed to complete your accreditation reports.

Fair Meeting - October 6

A planning meeting for our May Fair will be held on Monday, October 6, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the school library.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this meeting. The more ideas and help we have, the better the fair will be. Whether you're a new family to the school or one that has been with us forever, we welcome you to attend this meeting.

SJS/Papa John's Night - October 7

St. Joseph School and Papa John's Pizza will collaborate on a fund raiser for the school on Tuesday, October 7.

October 7 is also Home & School Meeting, so ordering pizza is a great way to feed the family and make it to the meeting on time.

Tell Papa John's you're with St. Joseph School when ordering. They will donate a percentage of those sales to the school.

Please pass this message on to friends and relatives. Just by mentioning the school name when ordering pizza, they can have money donated to the school. It doesn't cost a dime extra.

This is a great way to help SJS and enjoy great pizza at the same time.

Home & School Meeting - October 7

The next meeting of the St. Joseph Catholic School Home and School Association will be on Tuesday, October 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.

We hope to see everyone there.

Living Rosary - October 8

The month of October is the month of the Holy Rosary.

The students at St. Joseph will participate in a living rosary on Wednesday, October 8, at 8:30 in the church.

We will not have Mass that day.

September Crusaders

Congratulations to our September Crusaders of the Month: Blake Hutchings (1st grade) and Devin Schwaibold (7th grade)!

Crusaders of the Month are students who exemplify by their words and deeds what it means to be true Crusaders. They display a love of God and a devotion to His work. They show obvious concern for peers, family, and friends and participate in school life with zeal and enthusiasm. They stand up for causes or situations when they know it is right. They are leaders, not followers. The Crusaders show honesty and integrity, respect for authority, and a willingness to give service to others.

We are proud of these and all of our Crusaders!

Duke TIPS Students

Congratulations to 7th grade students who qualified to take the Duke TIPS test.

They are (seated from left) Grace Tallo, Chloe Ernst, Mia Kugler, Paige Bankston, Camryn Ernst, Heather Habisreitinger, and (standing from left) Haley Faciane, Emily Stricker, Madissen Ford, Logan Henley, Lance Crawford, Mason Richard, Brock Milton, Case Johnson, Maria Guay, Caroline Casey, Caitlyn Wooters.

Each year Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP) registers eligible 7th grade students to take either the ACT or SAT as an above-level testing experience. This allows students to have greater insight into their abilities and a chance to preview the test they will take during the college admission process. Duke also provides students with valuable benefits and resources designed specifically for academically talented youth.

These students will take their ACT in February.

It's Football Ticket Raffle Time!

The St. Joseph Home and School Association is excited to announce the football tickets raffle again this year!

The first name drawn will have the choice of Saints v 49ers or LSU v Ole Miss tickets. The remaining tickets will go to the second name drawn.

The student body is asked to get involved by selling ten raffle tickets at $5.00 each. Raffle tickets were sent home on Wednesday, September 17.

First, second, and third place ticket sellers will receive a LSU/Saints gift basket donated by Chuck's Field of Dreams.

The student who sells the winning ticket will also receive a prize.

In addition to the individual prizes, the class between preK and 3rd grade and the class between 4th and 8th grade that sells the most tickets will each be awarded a pizza party.

All tickets and money must be turned into the office by Wednesday, October 15. The drawing will be held on Friday, October 17.
