Veterans Day
For the bravery, hard work, and dedication to our Country, we thank you.

ACT Aspire Testing
Next week on November 7th, 8th, and 10th our 3rd - 8th grade students will take the ACT Aspire summative test. The Diocese of Baton Rouge uses this test as our yearly standardized assessemnt which provides information regarding student and school growth. This is not a test that students can or should study for. Their preparation for this test happens throughout the school year in the classroom. Parents can help their child to be prepared for testing each day by ensuring that they have a good night's sleep, eat a good breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Please do not schedule appointments if at all possible on the mornings of the dates above.
We feel confident our students are well prepared for this assessment. These results are one of the indicators used to determine placement in our advanced Reading and Math classes including the 8th grade classes for high school credit. Please encourage your child to do their best each day.
We will provide the students with a small treat and encouraging message each day.
Say Cheese
Pictures: Thursday, November 3rd
Class pictures and absentee/retakes will be next Thursday, November 3rd, All students should be in their school uniform. ALL order forms must be turned in no later than that morning.
Order forms with notes attached were sent home for those students who were absent for their individual pictures.
If your child is needing to take retakes, you must return the FULL package that you received. That package will be given to the photographer.
NO BUSES
Please make arrangements for your children, there will be no buses on Tuesday, November 8th.
Daylight Saving Time
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS IS THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH.
Please be sure to set your clocks back!
Dinner Auction
THE DINNER, DANCE, AND AUCTION EVENT IS A GO!
THE DEADLINE FOR PURCHASING TICKETS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 4TH.
Please send in your order form and money as soon as possible. Another order form went home in the Wednesday packet today.
Principal for the day
Ms. Taylor Karr did an amazing job as principal for the day on October 25, 2016. She was a great help in the office, enjoyed lunch from Nola Cafe with a friend, and many of our classes will enjoy popsicles thanks to her choice of rewards for "crazy socks" day. If your child would like to be the next "principal for the day," make sure to check out the silent auction items at our Dinner, Dance & Auction Event on November 11 at 7pm.
advisory council
Advisory Council wants EVERYONE's feedback.
Dear Parents,
The Advisory Council of St. Joseph Catholic School has been discussing how we can increase parental involvement within the school. Over the past few months we have reviewed several Parental Involvement Programs or PIP but we need your assistance and input on the details of the proposed program for SJS. Please take 5 to 10 minutes to complete this survey. Your answers and comments are confidential and anonymous. We would like for you to follow the link below to answer the survey, but you are welcome to print the survey, write your answers, and return the printed survey in an envelope with your child if that is a better option for you.
